Our Trip to Cedar-Sinai

Well apparently you can fall 3 feet off the couch. Land just perfect, act totally normal but still have cracked you skull and have torn an artery in your head which is bleeding into the lining between your brain and you skull. So a trip to the pediatrician, then x-ray, then CT then a call to the head of pediatric neurosurgery at Cedar-Sinai and we were on our way there. They put him in the PICU and then 7 the next morning off to surgery. 3 days later and we are finally home. During surgery they cut him open and removed a large peace of skull fixed the artery and cleaned everything up then put the skull back together stitched him up and now they say 4 weeks for the bone to fuse back together. The joy of children. I do not think I have any tears left.

This is how I found Diego the other day. I thought he had fallen or something. No it turnes out he just thought this was a good place for a nap.

Hiking

Took the kids hiking to day in the hills behind our house. We had a great time.

Our Baby Doves

We have baby doves in our yard. A dove built a nest on our patio cover and it has two little baby birds now. I do not know why this bird thought that our backyard would be a quite place but the kids are sure glad. We have lots of crows so the daddy bird sits on the edge of the patio cover most of the day and scares away any crow that comes in our yard. It is nice because it has really cut down on our crows.

The kids found this snake in the yard the other day. I couldn't tell if it was a rattel snake or not because it would not come all the way out of the bushes so I could see the end of its tale. Eric wasn't home and I couldn't just let it roam the yard not knowing what it was. So as scary as it was I got a shovel and hit it until I killed it. It was pretty fast at first and kept darting around. I was freaking out since I didn't know if it was a rattler or not. After I killed it I pulled it out of the bushes and realized it was just a gopher snake. I felt bad to have had to kill it but I guess my kids come first. It would have been cool though to have a cool gopher snake living in the yard. Keeping the mice away.

He is almost 10 months old. He is getting so big. He loves to yell mama every time I walk into the room.

My new bedding!

This is the new bedding that I bought for my room. I am very excited to redo my room. The bedding we have I bought before Maya was born and it has more then a few holes. I bought the matching red blankets and white sheets so my bed should look like the bed in the picture.

I am a new MOMMY!!!!!

Friday we recieved news from Guatemala that Ava's adoption had been finalized. By Guatemalan law are now the proud parents of a beautiful 2 year old girl.

Hiking

The other day Eric and I went hiking in the mountains behind our house. We went on a 12 mile hike to a water fall. 6 miles in and 6 miles back. The water fall was beautiful we jumped off the rocks into the water it was freazing. We also managed to see 4 snakes we were only able to catch one though. We also saw a huge frog. I hope you can see it in the picture it is by the waters edge. We had a fun time.

My beautiful girl.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my beautiful girl. She turned 2 today. Ava we love you sooo much and can not wait to have you home. You have grow up so much since we saw you for the first time at 10 days old.

Linkin's EYE

************************************************************************Poor Linkin. Kenzie was carring him down the stairs and she slipped and fell backwards. Linkin's eye hit the stairs. I was so sacared because he was screaming and blood was coming out of his eye. It turned out he had a little cut on the courner of his eye lid and it wasn't the eye its self. This took place the evening we were leaving for Guatemala, so crazy. It is looking better now.
